Place - how to get there

The conference will take place in the BASTIONS campus (for the opening session and some keynote conferences) and UNIMAIL Campus of the University of Geneva, in downtown Geneva. These campuses are very close from each-other.

See the program for the rooms.

The campus BASTIONS is located in the "Parc des Bastions" garden on Place Neuve square. Streetcar 12, and buses 3 and 5, stop at Place Neuve square. Streetcar 13 stops also nearby ("Rond-point de Plainpalais").
The campus UNI MAIL is located south from the campus BASTIONS: take "rue de l'Université" street, cross the "Plainpalais" circle, and cross the "Plainpalais plain" towards its left (southeast) edge (10 min. by foot from BASTIONS Campus).
Campus UNI MAIL is at the corner of Boulevard Carl-Vogt and 23-Cantons square ("carrefour des 23-cantons").
To get there from another location than from the Bastions campus, take either bus 4 (stop "Uni-Mail") or tramways 12 or 13 (stop "Boulevard du Pont-d'Arve", take the boulevard downwards and you'll see the campus on the other side of the 23-cantons square.

Arriving at Geneva

Geneva is located at the western edge of Lake Geneva, the largest lake in western Europe.

Sites of interest in Geneva include the Old Town, the embankments with numerous gardens and mansions and the United Nations, and many museums. Around Geneva, the Swiss coast offers breathtaking views with vineyards, castles and quaint villages. Nearby French Alps, including the resort of Chamonix, is less than an hour drive.

For cheap flights to Geneva from Europe, see easyjet (from London, Amsterdam, Paris, Nice, Liverpool, Barcelona and other cities via London) and Virgin (from Brussels and other cities via Brussels).

Many international companies fly to Geneva on a daily basis. More information at the website of Geneva-Cointrin International Airport.

Easy Rent-a-Car offers affordable car rentals at the airport (but parking in Geneva is a real problem).

Trains arrive at Geneva Cornavin Station in Geneva downtown. Check train schedules on the swiss national railway website.

If you arrive by plane, you can take either the bus (line 10) to get to the center (cost: 2,60 swiss francs) or a train, which is much faster and not much more expensive. A cab will cost around 35 swiss francs (around 23 euros).

The Geneva Tourist Board offers plenty of information and hotel booking is possible online through their website. You may wish to avoid hotels in the direct neighbourhood of the station for the area is not all that quiet at night (although safe in general). See the list of hotels we suggest.
